John?
Self-portraiture has always been too difficult for me to do. Beyond the usual technical issues my capacity to be at ease and ignore the camera is simply not there at this point. The eye of the camera simply has too much presence, and I feel the intensity of its gaze when pointed in my direction.
I suppose this is a basic indication of my relatively private nature, despite the fact that I consider myself quite sociable and talkative, depending on the mood and inclination.
I would say I am an extroverted introvert, and this image captures that sense a little more then anything I have tried before. It's been an interesting experience trying to work on some self-portraits as it was never my strong suite. I do think however that I am at last moving tentatively forward with this shot, and I am quite satisfied with the result of this little experiment (a 5 part sequence that can be followed if you click on the image seen here, and then track back to the 1st image).
A little exposure will do me good, I suppose...

I love this photo so much - it is so hauniting and telling - says alot about your personality (extroverted introvert)and expressions as a photographer. You really are gifted, no only as an image maker but as a weaver of words as well ;-)

Michigan Little: judging by your own thoughts I suspect you have a special capacity. Anyone who likes brown corduroy is ok with me!
